SOLUTION: This 5-methyl-1-phenyl-hexane-2,5-dicarboxylic acid derivative is shown by formula I (Q is H, an R CO or R CO; R is H or R ; R is a 1-5C alkyl; X is a halogen, a 1-5C alkyl, a 1-4C haloalkyl, etc.) such as 1-(4- chlorophenyl)-2-(methoxycarbonyl)-5-methyl-hexane-2,5-dicarboxylic acid dimethyl ester. The compound of formula I is obtained by adding carbon monoxide to the double bond of a 1-pheny1-5-methyl-4-hexene-2-carboxylic acid derivative of formula II to carboxylate the compound and introducing the resultant substance into an ester with a 1-5C alkanol of the formula R OH. The compound of formula I shows antifungal properties by itself and is useful as an intermediate for introducing a raw material compound for an azolylmethylcyclopentanol as a fungicidal compound. |
