LIGHT SOURCE LIGHTING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source lighting device which can provide a lighting circuit using mainly small and lightweight circuit elements such as switching elements and capacitors and which can light a discharge lamp in a flicker-free, good viewing environment. SOLUTION: When a transistor Q1 is switched on, a lighting circuit 4 causes current to flow from a smoothing circuit 3 to a diode D1 to a transistor Q1 to a capacitor Cq to the smoothing circuit 3, charging the capacitor C1 and turning the transistor Q1 off. When transistor Q3 , Q6 are switched on instead, the charge in the capacitor C1 is discharged through a circuit from the capacitor C1 to a diode D2 to the transistor Q3 to a discharge lamp 9 to the transistor Q6 to the capacitor C1 . When the transistor Q3 , Q6 are switched off and transistor Q4 , Q5 switched on, the residual charge in the capacitor C1 is discharged through a circuit from the capacitor C1 to a diode D3 to the transistor Q5 to the discharge lamp 9 to the transistor Q4 to the capacitor C1 .
