Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drastically increase the luminance of a surface light source. SOLUTION: In a light transmission body 11 for introducing light made incident from an end surface to a liquid crystal part 12, a minute recessed part 13, being recessed from a front surface 11B to the direction of a thickness part, is formed on the opposed surface to the front surface of the light transmission body confronting the liquid crystal part 12, by composing a reflection plane 13A formed with the minute recessed part 13 so that an angle θ, formed between the normal N to the reflection plane 13A and the direction of projecting light 14 from the reflection plane 13A being normal to the liquid crystal part 12, becomes larger than a critical angle θ0 and smaller than 90 deg., light incident on the reflection plane 13A is transmitted to the liquid crystal part 12 without an energy loss, the light intensity in the direction of the liquid crystal part 12 is improved and surface luminance is increased. By changing the depth of the reflection plane 13A and performing surface roughening treatment, even when the area of the minute reflection plane viewing from the liquid crystal part 12 is the same, the surface luminance is increased by increasing the actual area of the reflection plane 13A.
