PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the penetration and the leakage of molten metal developed from a gap between a casting roll and a casting nozzle for long time and to enable the stable casting, in a single roll or a twin roll side pouring type continuous casting apparatus. SOLUTION: In a sealing device of the casting nozzle used to the single roll or the twin roll side pouring type continuous casting apparatus for producing a thin sheet, a seal part between the casting nozzle and the casting roll is composed of a sealing material and a protecting material 9 interposed between the sealing material and the casting roll. The sealing material is made of a ceramic fiber felt 10 and the protecting material 9 is made of a metallic plate 9a laminated with graphite 9b. By this constitution, the deformation of the metallic plate caused by the friction with the casting roll is not developed, and the high sealness for the long time is kept and the stable casting without penetrating the molten metal, etc., can be obtd.
