Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the vibration of the whole structure for improving a seismic response controlling property by dividing a structure wall into the upper and lower wall bodies and interposing a damping mechanism to damp the horizontal relative displacement in the action of a horizontal external force between the walls of two wall bodies. SOLUTION: A damping apparatus 20 consists of a steel plate 21 provided in the lower end of the upper wall body 17a and a visco-elastic body 22 provided in the upper and of the lower wall body 17b. The steel plate 21 is disposed in a vertical plane locating a rectangular seismic response controlled wall 17, the upper half part is embedded in the upper wall body 17a and the lower half part is extended downward to be inserted into the visco-elastic body 22. On the other hand, the visco-elastic body 22 is disposed in a recess formed in the upper end of the lower wall body 17b. When a multiple dwelling house is shaked by an earthquake, wind or the like to displace relatively horizontally the upper wall body 17a and lower wall body 17b, the visco- elastic body 22 restrains the displacement of the steel plate 21, so that the vibration of the outer walls 12,14 is restrained to improve the quake resisting property in the ridge direction.
