Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain tensioner device to prevent incurring of a mechanical loss, suppress worsening of fuel consumption, and reduce the generation of chain noise. SOLUTION: A chain is run around the crank sprocket of a crank shaft and the cam sprocket of a cam shaft. A recessed part (a groove part) is formed in the surface part, making contact with the chain, a chain tensioner arranged at the side of the chain and a roller 21 is disposed. Since resistance of the chain against a chain tensioner device 18 is varied from friction (slide) resistance to rolling resistance and reduced, incurring of a mechanical loss is reduced and worsening of fuel consumption is avoided. Further, the generation of contact noise between the chain tensioner device 18 and the chain is reduced.
