Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration in controlling capability which is caused by vibration in the axial direction of a cam shaft. SOLUTION: A cylindrical member 17 is integratedly and rotatably connected to the top end part of an intake side cam shaft 11. A cylindrical valve element 18 is rotatably arranged on the inner part of the cylindrical member 17. A driving motor 47 for rotatably driving the valve element 18 is installed on a head cover 46. A sprocket 19 hung a chain 78 is rotatably fitted around the outer peripheral part of the cylindrical member 17. A piston gear 21 is arranged between the cylindrical member 17 and a cover 20 connected to the sprocket 19, and the gear 21 is engaged with the cylindrical member 17 and the sprocket 19 by helical teeth 40, 41. An advance angle side oil pressure chamber 44 and a delay angle side oil pressure chamber 45 are arranged on the top end side and a base end side of the piston gear 21. The valve element 18 is rotated, and thereby, oil pressure are regulated in the oil pressure chambers 44, 45.
