DRIVING DEVICE OF PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a change in a voltage drop in a line electrode, and perform stable display operation by generating a control signal corresponding to a brightness level, and controlling voltage of a line electrode driving pulse according to this control signal. SOLUTION: A brightness level detecting circuit 7 counts the number of light emitting picture elements on the basis of picture element data equivalent to a single frame or equivalent to a single sub-field, and detects an average brightness level by its value, and supplies an average brightness level detecting signal to a controller 8. The controller 8 supplies a voltage control signal to control voltage of a maintaining pulse to a line electrode driving pulse generating circuit 13 in response to an average brightness level detecting signal or an electric current level detecting signal. In this way, nonuniformity of display brightness by a change in a voltage drop in a line electrode is prevented by using a signal corresponding to a brightness level as a control signal, and stable display operation can be performed.
