Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate work execution by bonding foil composed mainely of a specified metal to the surface of one of asphalt layers formed on both sides of an asphalt-impregnated fiber layer. SOLUTION: A base 1 is obtained by forming asphalt layers 5a, 5b on both sides of an asphalt-impregnated fiber layer 4 made of a felt of inorganic, synthetic, or animal or plant fibers, a nonwoven fabric, or a fabric, impregnated with asphalt. Petroleum type straight asphalt or the like is used as that impregnating the asphalt-impregnated fiber layer 4 of the base 1. Petroleum type blown asphalt or the like is used for the asphalt layers 5a, 5b. Foil 2 of either copper, lead, or zinc, not more than 200μm thick, is bonded to the surface of the asphalt layer 5a on one side of the base 1 via and adhesive layer 3. A lightweight building material having good appearance, mildew-proofing an moss- proofing properties, constructibility, and durability can thus be obtained.
