Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron source, which can effectively prevent the direct collision of charged particles with an electron emitting element by providing a shielding plate and which has a long lifetime and high reliability, and to provide a display panel and an image forming device using this electron source, which gives the high quality of image. SOLUTION: Element electrodes 2, 3 on a substrate 1 are respectively connected to X-directional wiring 72 and Y-directional wiring 73. A conductive thin film 4, which includes an electron emitting part, is electrically connected to the element electrodes 2, 3. A shielding plate 14 is formed so as to cover the electron emitting part, which is formed on the thin film 4. Furthermore, the electron, which is emitted from the electron emitting part, passes through an opening 19 for electron. The thick film paste 22 is filled from an opening 20 for fixation so as to fix the shielding plate 14 to a support 13. With this structure, a space between the shielding plate 14 and the substrate 1 is evened so as to reduce the influence of the shielding plate 14 to the distribution of electric field, and the influence of the charged particle to the electron emitting element can be reduced.
