SOLUTION: Cluster information obtained from the external memory 16 is stored in a 1st memory 26. At this time, the information to be stored can be discriminated between a vacant cluster number and a cluster number holding information by a function equipped on the device. A data in a 2nd memory 27 is converted into an EFM signal in a parallel/serial form, and is supplied to a magnetic field modulation head 3 of an MD recorder 21, where the data of one cluster is written on an MD 4. Then, at the same time, the master data by the next one cluster is read out of the external memory 16 by a CPU+DMA 25, and a command for writing this data in a 3rd memory 28 is issued and executed.
