Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain reproduction with excellent magneto-optical characteristics and recording stability by a ferromagnetic reproduction-only film consisting of an alloy of an amorphous light rare earth-transition metal and semimetal and a ferromagnetic recording-only film of a large coercive force consisting of an alloy of an amorphous light rare earth-transition metal. SOLUTION: A first magnet optical recording film 13 and a second magneto-optical recording film 13a are formed on a substrate. This first magnet optical recording film 13 is the ferromagnetic film formed out of the alloy of amorphous light rare earth-transition metal and semimetal as the reproduction-only film. The second magneto-optical recording film 13 is the ferromagnetic film of a large coercive force formed out of the alloy of the amorphous light rare earth- transition metal as the recording-only film. Further, a protective film 14 consisting of a dielectric material and a reflection film 15 are successively laminated. As a result, the magnetic moment of the alloy of the amorphous light rare earth-transition metal is decreased without decreasing the magnetic moment of the light rare earth metals between the transition metal and the semimetal, thereby, perpendicualr magnetic anisotropy is attained. Then, the reproduction of the excellent magneto-optical characteristics and the recording stability are obtd. in the case where the laser beam of a short wavelength region is utilized.
