METHOD FOR CUTTING OFF CAST SLAB IN CONTINUOUS CASTER

PURPOSE: To reduce the load of an operator, to avoid the development of trouble and to improve the working rate of a continuous caster by quantitatively analyzing the developing process of the trouble, in which a cut-off device arrives the limited position of travelable range till completing the cut-off. CONSTITUTION: An arithmetic unit 8 fetches information related to casting speed, etc., from a pinch roll control unit 9 and also, information related to the traveling position of a cut-off device 4 and the shifting position of a cut-off torch 6 form a cut-off control unit 7. A time required till completing the cut-off and a distance, in which the cut-off device 4 travels till completing the cut-off form the casting speed, are obtd. during cutting off the cast slab 2 with the cut-off device 4 by using these informations. The trouble, ink which the cut-off device 4 arrives the limited position of the travelable range before completing the cut-off is quantitatively predicted by comparing the obtd. distance with the travelable remaining distance of the cut-off device 4. A speed instruction for avoiding the trouble is given to the cut-off control unit 7 and the pinch roll control unit 9 based on this trouble prediction information.
