Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to obtain good image quality and to maintain the specified gap between an upper substrate and a lower substrate. SOLUTION: A photoresist layer 38 is first formed by applying a photoresist material mingled with spacers 39 on the lower substrate 31 having an ITO electrode layer 37 on the upper apart. Next, this photoresist is exposed by using a mask 41 formed with prescribed patterns 42. The photoresist layer 38 is thereafter developed in order to remove the photoresist and spacers 39 existing in the areas exclusive of active areas constituting pixels. The upper substrate 43 formed with the ITO electrode layer 44 intersecting with the ITO electrode layer 37 of the upper substrate 31 is assembled. Liquid crystal molecules 45 are thereafter injected between the ITO electrode layer 37 and 44. The spacers 39 are regularly positioned in the areas exclusive of the active areas constituting the pixels by forming the device in such a manner and, therefore, the gap between the substrates 31 and 43 is maintained constant and the contrast of the images is improved. |
