Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new organic bismuth compound having excellent radiological contrast media character, free from side effect useful as radiological contrast media for vascular system, urinary passage, etc., obtained by carrying out the reaction of a specific aromatic metal compound with trihalobismuth compound. SOLUTION: This compound is a new organic bismuth derivative(salt) expressed in formula I [X is YNR R (Y is SO2 , CO; R is a 3-6C alkyl having 2-5 hydroxyl groups; R is H, a 1-6C alkyl with or without 1-5 hydroxyls, a 1-5C acyl; R and R" may form a 2-6C cyclic alkylene with or without 1-4 hydroxyls); X , X are each H, a 1-4C alkyl, a 1-4C alkoxy, a 1-4C alkylsulfonyl, a 1-4C alkylcarbonyl, a nitro, a cyano, X1 ], useful as radiological contrast media for vascular system, urinary passage, etc. This compound is obtained by carrying out the reaction of a reactive metal compound expressed in formula II [M is MgX' (X' is a halogen), alkali metal] with trihalobismuth compound expressed in formula BiX3 (X is a halogen).
