Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbamoylpyridinium type instantaneous hardener capable of completing a hardening reaction immediately after application and free from defects peculiar to the conventional hardening agent. SOLUTION: This hardener for a photographic material contg. a binder made practically of gelatin is carbamoylpyridinium salts. Each amine component of the salts has been derived from a sec. amine converted into a practically inert product by an intramolecular cyclization reaction. This hardening agent improves the photographic performance of the photographic material even when the material is preserved under severe conditions.
