Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for producing gaseous hydrogen and gaseous oxygen having an advantage that an external current need not be supplied since it is self-excited and from which a combustible gas contg. the generated gaseous hydrogen and gaseous oxygen almost in a 2:1 ratio is obtained. SOLUTION: An electrode 4 of conductive material having such a shape that the ion is migrated is provided between a metal 2 used as a positive electrode in an electrolyte 1 and a metal 3 used as a negative electrode, an electrolytic diaphragm 5 is furnished between the metal 3 used as the negative electrode and the electrode 4 of conductive material, and the electrode 4 of conductive material is made electrically conductive in the circuit formed between the metal 2 used as the positive electrode and the metal 3 used as the negative electrode.
