Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a low-mol.-wt. amino resin in an esp. high yield in a short time. SOLUTION: An alcohol. formaldehyde. and amino compd. are subjected to addition/condensation in a neutral or basic atmosphere. The resultant intermediate having a wt.-average mol.wt. of 2.000 or higher is subjected to alkyl- etherification in an acidic atmosphere to give a final product having a wt. - average mol.wt. of 1,500 or lower. The alcohol is added to the reaction system in two portions, i.e., before and after the addition/condensation. Thus, a low- mol.-wt. amino resin can be produced in a high yield (about 70%).
