Also claimed are tetrahydrofuran hydrazone intermediates of formula (II) and an organolithium compound of formula (III) as a solution in an aprotic solvent. T = COY, CONY2, SO2Y or COOU; U = 1-8C alkyl or aryl (both optionally substituted); and Y = H or as for U.
