Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify constitution and facilitate assembling and manufacturing work so as to be able to manufacture a shift lever device at a low cost. SOLUTION: A journalling retainer part 18 is provided at the base end part of a shift lever 10, and a detent pin 20 is mounted in the intermediate part of the shift lever 10. The retainer part 18 is journalled being inserted into the bottom side of a box-shape journalling housing part 32 with a retainer part insert hole 24 and a lever shank through-hole 26 opened in a base member 12. The detent pin 20 is made to face a detent opening 36 of a detent part 30 protruded from the peripheral part of the retainer part insert hole 24 and lever shank through-hole 26, and the shift lever 10 provided with the retainer part 18 and detent pin 20 is assembled as it is to the base member 12.
