PRINTER FITTED WITH RADIO EQUIPMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption, in a printer fitted with radio equipment, by subjecting the supply of a current to the radio equipment to ON/OFF control when there is no transmission of printing data for a definite time or more. SOLUTION: A printer fitted with radio equipment consists of the radio equipment transmitting and receiving data between a host device and the radio equipment, a radio control part 2 controlling the data transmission and reception of the radio equipment and having function subjecting the power supply of the radio equipment to ON/OFF control at a specified interval when there is no communication from the host device for a definite time, a printer HW part 4 performing printing operation and a printing control part 3 receiving printing data from the radio control part 2 to control the printer HW part 4. Since the power consumption of the printer HW part 4 and that of the radio equipment 1 are reduced in a standby mode free from printing request, the radio control part 2 subjects the supply of power to the radio equipment 1 to ON/OFF control at a specified interval. When a power supply is closed, a printer becomes a standby mode and, when printing data is received, ON/OFF control is stopped to enter an operation mode. When the printing operation is completed and there is no request, the operation mode is changed to the standby mode.
