Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To provide a highly hydrophilic battery separator through a simple and easy process by treating a polyolefin high polymer porous body having a specific moisture content by means of a gas containing fluorine gas. CONSTITUTION: A highly hydrophilic battery separator is manufactured by touching a polyolefin high polymer porous body having a moisture content of 200ppm or less to a gas containing a fluorine gas. Woven fabric cloth, nonwoven fabric cloth, micro-porous film, laminated sheet formed by laminating these into multi-layer, and the like are cited as the polyolefin high polymer porous body. It is desirable for the gas containing the fluorine gas to contain oxygen gas. Thereby, without requiring a special device such as for high voltage or high vacuum the polyolefin high polymer porous body can be made hydrophilic by a simple process, and can be utilized in many areas.
