Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for facilitating removal of a fuel rod from a fuel assembly. SOLUTION: A conventional upper tie plate is eliminated from a fuel assembly 10 and a handle assembly 32 including two spring urged latch pins being engaged with holes 42 made in a channel 16 is provided. A moving member supports a lower tie plate 20 and secured rigidly to the channel 16. When the fuel assembly 10 is lifted from a reactor, the channel 16 supports the load of fuel assembly 10. When a fuel band is removed from the channel 16, the latch pins are unlatched to release the handle assembly 32 from the fuel assembly 10.
