Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a deinking agent containing a specific ether compound, giving a high-quality regenerated pulp having extremely low residual ink content, having excellent ink-collecting property and foam property and useful for the recovery of waste paper such as newspaper, magazine, wood-free paper and computer print-out paper. SOLUTION: This deinking agent contains a compound expressed by the formula [R is an 8-14C alkyl or alkenyl; R is H or a 2-24C acyl; PO, EO and XO are propylene oxide unit, ethylene oxide unit and a >=3C alkylene oxide unit, respectively; (m) is 9-19; (n) is 1-49; (k) is a number to get an (XO)k unit having a total carbon number of 3-147]. The deinking is preferably carried out by a flotation method using the above deinking agent in an amount of 0.1-2% (based on the waste paper).
