PRODUCTION OF MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS PRODUCING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a method and device to produce a magnetic recording medium that a magnetic powder in a magnetic coating film on a nonmagnetic supporting body is oriented in the longitudinal direction of the nonmagnetic supporting body by first orientation treatment and second orientation treatment, thereby obtaining a magnetic recording medium excellent in orientation. SOLUTION: In this method, a magnetic recording medium is produced by applying a magnetic coating liquid to form a magnetic coating film 5 on a long nonmagnetic supporting body 1 which is continuously travelled, orienting the magnetic powder in the magnetic coating film 5 by a first orienting means 6 and a second orienting means 8, and then drying the coating film 5. A magnetic field is produced by the second orienting means 8 in the same direction as the magnetic field in the exit of the first orienting means 6 so as to orient the magnetic powder in the magnetic coating film 5.
