DIGITAL RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital recording and reproducing device whereby a recording time is made to be the longest one while keeping a tape format as it is by changing tape feeding speed in accordance with the data rate of an input digital signal. SOLUTION: The input signal is executed with a required processing in a signal processing circuit 13 through an input interface 11 and a buffer 12, a part including the data rate in the digital signal is especially selected and outputted to a recording side data rate discriminating circuit 17. In the recording side data rate discriminating circuit 17, tape feeding speed which is set every input signal data rate stage out of several classified stages, the clock of a digital signal processing and a recording time, etc., are discriminated. These pieces of information are outputted to a system control circuit servo 18, tape feeding speed and the clock of the signal processing are properly changed and recording wave length is kept to be fixed. The signal processing clock and an output data rate are set in accordance with the recorded input signal data rate at the time of reproduction and the signal of data rate is outputted at optional tape speed.
