MUSIC SELECTION UNIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a music selection unit capable of detecting a music top of a first program when a search is executed from the beginning end of even a recent magnetic tape of a short reader tape without impairing the convenience at the time of a review search with the music selection unit for a tape recorder. SOLUTION: The optimum disregard time required in a music top detecting section 5 is set in a first disregard time setting section 7 at the time of detecting the music top in a music top detecting section 5 by reproducing the output of a reproducing head 12 in contact with the magnetic tape 11 traveling at a high speed at the time of a cue search mode in a reproducing and amplifying section 2 and outputting an 'H' from an 'L' in a comparator section 3. The optimum disregard time required in a music tail detecting section 6 is set in a second disregard setting section 8 in a same manner at the time of a review search mode. As a result, the independent setting of the respective optimum disregard time is possible and, therefor, the respective optimum disregard time is settable at the time of the cue search and the review search.
