BRAKING FORCE RETAINING DEVICE FOR VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the brake operation without impairing a creep function in a vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission. SOLUTION: A braking force retaining device 6 disposed in pipe lines L1, L2, L3 which connect a master cylinder 2 and brake calipers BFL, BRR is equipped with an on-off valve 8 which is driven by a solenoid, and when a brake pedal 1 is stepped on with a treading force in which the braking force exceeds the creep force, the on-off valve 8 is closed to retain a braking force, allowing a driver to separate a leg from the brake pedal 1 while stopping. An accelerator pedal is stepped or a clutch 16 for start is engaged when a vehicle starts, the on-off valve 8 is opened, causing the braking force is released, so that a hill starting can be performed easily. When the brake pedal 1 is stepped with a treading force in which the braking force underperforms the creep force, the on-off valve 8 is not closed, so that the creep function can be displayed without obstruction.
