Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an excessive power consumption and a changeover current to thereby make a low cost circuit utilizable. SOLUTION: A controller 10 for a field emission device(FED) comprises a dependant voltage source 26 connected between a converging electrode 18 of FED and ground. When the voltage of the source 26 is the maximum, electrons pass through an opening 20 in the electrode 18 and display is generated. When it is the minimum, the electrons do not pass therethrough and no display is formed.
