Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generating agent capable of miniaturizing and lightening a gas generator because the gas generating agent in the gas generator is reduced by increasing the amount of generated gas and the amount of a cooling agent is reduced by lowering a combustion temperature. SOLUTION: This gas generating agent contains at least one oxidizing agent selected from hydrazocarbonamide and an oxo-acid salt and at least one regulator of combustion selected from among oxides, chlorides and sulfates of transition elements belonging to groups IV, V and VI in the periodic table. It is preferable to contain at least one reducer selected from among sulfate hydrates, nitrate hydrates, carbonates, carbonate hydrates, hydroxide and hydroxide hydrates of metals belonging to groups III, IV, V and VI in the periodic table. The gas generating agent is filled in the combustion chamber 3 of a gas generator 1.
