PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform smooth acceleration from coasting owing to the engine brake correction control. SOLUTION: A shift control device of a continuously variable transmission is equipped with a shift control means 50 to calculate the control target input revolving speed of the input shaft complying with the driving situation and control a gear ratio altering means so that the input shaft revolving speed is identical to the control target input revolving speed, an acceleration sensing means 51 to sense the acceleration of the car, an opening sensing means 52 to sense the stamped condition of an accel. pedal, and an engine brake correction value setting means 53 to set the correction target value of the target input revolving speed so that the acceleration lies within the specified range when release of the accel. pedal is sensed. The arrangement further includes an engne brake correction control ending means 54 which changes the correction target value toward the control target input revolving speed at a certain change rate if stamping of the accel. pedal is sensed while the target input revolving speed is undergoing a correction, and the shift control means 50 controls the gear ratio altering means 5 on the basis of the given correction target value.
