Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detecting method of breakout which can detect the breakout at high reliability in real time and can quickly treat thereafter, and a treating method thereof. SOLUTION: A sheath thermocouple 23 opened at the tip part or connected at the tip part is fitted to a block changing stand 16 containing a comb-tooth member 13 and a cooling grid 14 arranged just below a mold 12 in a continuous caster 10. The temp., at which the sheath thermocouple 23 is melted and connected with the heat of molten steel 19 leaked at the time of developing the breakout, is measured to detect the breakout.
