IMAGE MEMORY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image memory device with which a picture bit image can be read/written while efficiently using a burst operable memory composed of two banks. SOLUTION: Concerning the image memory device for storing pixel information concerning picture elements consisting of a display image in a synchronous DRAM, the display image is divided into areas composed of picture elements as many as the number of pieces of pixel information to be stored in one row space. Then, the pixel information concerning the picture elements consisting of one area of adjacent areas is stored in one row space of one bank between two banks so that the pixel information concerning picture elements continued in one direction in that area can be stored in continuous address spaces, and the pixel information concerning the picture elements consisting of the other area is stored in one row space of the other bank so that the pixel information concerning picture elements continued in one direction in that area can be stored in continuous address spaces.
