COVERED FIVER-REINFORCED RESIN STRAND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a covered fiber-reinforced resin strand excellent in flexibility and strong durability and suitable for a fiber-reinforced resin cable by covering a strand with a covering material in a non-adhesive state. SOLUTION: Element filaments 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 1-6 and 1-7 comprising reinforcing fibers such as glass fibers or carbon fibers are twisted and sized, and subsequently covered with a substantially non-adhesive resin such as polypropylene or polyethylene as a covering material 2 in a non-adhered state to produce the fiber-reinforced resin strand 3 having a circular cross section. When a plurality of the strands are twisted and sized, the strands may be twisted so as to form a polygonal cross section wherein the strands contact with each other in a surface contact state.
