The operation is sequentially repeated until highest gradation like second gradation, third gradation and the like (S14 and 15). Thus, the new curve can be obtained. Namely, the new gamma curve for negative mode by which printing with the same impression as positive setting can be obtained is obtained by the arithmetic processing means from the gamma curve prepared for the positive mode.
