CONSTITUTION: A thermal head 1 comprises many heat generating resistors 3, a plurality of driving ICs 6 containing shift registers for storing a print signal therein to selectively generate Joule heat from the resistors 3, a plurality of signal input lines 7 for inputting the print signal to the registers of the ICs 6, and a signal transfer line 8 for transferring the signal between the adjacent ICs mounted on an insulating board 2, wherein switching elements 9a-9c and 10a-10 are connected in series with the lines 7 and 8.
