Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To obtain a eucalyptus tea having enhanced fragrance and sweetness and reduced grassy-smell characteristic to Eucalyptus and useful as fancy food and health food by subjecting foliage or bark of Eucalyptus to air drying followed by steaming. CONSTITUTION: Foliage or bark of Eucalyptus is cut into pieces of about 5-10cm in size, and they are spread in a room and subjected to air drying for 12-15hr. When sweet fragrance is developed, the dried pieces of foliage or bark are steamed for 1-5min to remove grassy-smell and deactivate enzymatic activity. After 50-60% of water is removed e.g. by pressed rolling, water is further removed to 3-5% by direct fire. The obtained eucalyptus tea is pulverized so as to pass through 50-250 mesh screen and boiled in water. The juice is heated for 10-60min at 40-60 deg.C to obtain a eucalyptus extract.
