Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To obtain a control method for a waveform equalizer which discriminates whether or not over-equalization is made when a reference signal of a video signal is used for waveform equalization and in which over- equalization is prevented. CONSTITUTION: A reference signal storage memory 2 receives a reference signal of a video signal and a control means 3 reads it. The control means 3 discriminates whether or not a signal component with no correlation with the video signal is included and when the inclusion of the signal component without correlation is discriminated, the control method of a tap coefficient of a transversal filter 1 is revised to prevent over-equalization.
