Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To reduce moire and to make the size of a high speed scanning head section small by converting an image light whose band is limited in a direction of subscanning into an electric signal and applying band limit to the converted electric signal in a main scanning direction. CONSTITUTION: A light emitted from a light source 1 transmits through an object original 2 and its image is formed on a linear image pickup element 5 via a lens 3. An optical LPF 4 is switched along a guide rail 4b and contact information of a contact switch 4c is given to a system controller 13, which detects a type of the LPF 4. An image pickup element output signal from the element 5 is converted into a digital signal, it is fed to a main scanning filter 9 and a video signal consecutive in time base and in the main scanning direction is subjected to band limit. Then a main scanning sub-sampling circuit 15 applies again sampling to the signal at a sampling frequency offering a desired output resolution and the video signal is inputted to a buffer frame memory 11, where it is written. A memory 11 is controlled by a memory controller 15 and an I/F controller 17.
