METHOD FOR COLORING BONDING RESIN FOR TONER AND ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC COLOR TONER

PURPOSE: To stabilize the density of an image formed by continuous copying, to prevent fogging phenomenon and to improve light resistance and fastness by coloring a bonding resin for a toner contg. carboxylic acid residues by dyeing with a cationic dye in a solvent. CONSTITUTION: A bonding resin for a toner contg. carboxylic acid residues is colored by forming ion pairs between the resin and a cationic dye in a solvent. Acrylic acid resin, styrene-acrylic acid copolymer resin or polyester resin is used as the bonding resin. Water and/or alcohol is used as the solvent. The cationic dye as a colorant may be any compd. having characteristics as a cationic dye. Since the cationic dye has low solubility to silicone oil and is fixed in the resin by the ion pairs, silicone oil is hardly contaminated and a copied image is not stained and is excellent in light resistance.
