Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To damp not only horizontal but also vertical vibrations and display a base isolation effect also in vertical direction. CONSTITUTION: To reduce the size of a base isolation device 1, the upper and lower end parts of a cylindrical lead core 6 sealed in a laminated rubber part 4 is fixed tightly to the upper and lower flanges 5 which hold the laminated rubber part 4 in wedge shape so that an effective damping can be obtained not only in horizontal direction but also in vertical direction. Also the lead core 6 is pressed by holding plates 3 provided between the rubber plates 2 of the laminated rubber part 4 and a small diameter plate 7 for reinforcement provided between the holding plates 3 so that an excessive bulge is not produced by a load in vertical direction. Then, while horizontal damping is maintained, the lead core 6 can be deformed also in the vertical directionn against vertical vibration in from the effect of connection between the surrounding of the lead core and the laminated rubber part 4 so as to obtain damping effect.
