Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To provide a nonaqueous secondary battery with high discharge voltage and long cycle life by using a specific compound as a positive electrode active material in the nonaqueous secondary battery comprising the positive electrode active material, a negative electrode active material, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. CONSTITUTION: In a nonaqueous secondary battery comprising a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode active material (example: Li-Al alloy), a nonaqueous electrolyte preferably containing LiPF6 as a supporting salt in a solvent (example: a mixture of ethylene carbonate and diethyl carbonate), as the positive electrode active material, Lix Moy with opposite spinel structure (M is at least one transition metal, x is 0-1.2, y is 3.8-4.2) is used. Preferably, Lix NiVO4 , and/or Lix CoVO4 (x is 0.1-1.2) is/are contained in the positive electrode active material. Preferably, particle size of the positive electrode active material is 0.5-50μm.
