Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To obtain a high-quality magnetic head by joining and integrating magnetic core half bodies consisting of ferromagnetic oxides so as to butt these half bodies against each other, forming a magnetic gap between butt surfaces and approximating the surfaces of the ferromagnetic oxides sliding with magnetic recording media to smooth surfaces as far as possible. CONSTITUTION: This magnetic head H1 is formed by integrally joining a pair of the magnetic core half bodies 11 boundary at FG, BG apart the gap. The half bodies 11 are composed of magnetic ferrites 12. The magnetic head is provided with track width regulating grooves 14 and winding grooves 16. The half bodies 11 are joined by glass 15 of these track width regulating grooves 14. Coils are inserted into a hole 17 formed by butting of the grooves 16. The magnetic core half body 18 is then formed by intersecting the grooves 16 and 14 orthogonally with each other and is subjected to cylindrical polishing on the FG side, by which a curved surface having prescribed curvature is formed. Next, the magnetic core half body is stuck to a magnetic head course 22, is mounted on a drum 24 of a cylindrical lapping device 23 and is subjected to polishing, by which the core half body is provided with the prescribed curvature.
