Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To appropriately pickle stainless steel and to constantly obtain a stainless steel having an excellent surface with high glossiness, etc., by using this method. CONSTITUTION: In the pickling of stainless steel with a nitric acidhydrofluoric acid mixture, a reducing reagent is added to the sample of the mixture, and the mixture is titrated with a concn.-known neutralization titration reagent to measure the total acid concn. The sample added with the reducing reagent is titrated with a concn.-known substitution titration reagent in a nonaqueous solvent to measure the nitric acid concn., and the hydrofluoric acid concn. is calculated from the total acid concn. and nitric acid concn. The nitric acid concn. measured by the analytical method is controlled to 0.2-2.5mol/l and the calculated hydrofluoric acid concn. to 0.2-1.5mol/l, the ratio of HF to HNO3 is kept at 0.2-1.2, and the metallic ion concn. is controlled to 40g/l. A stainless steel is pickled by using such a pickling soln.
