ROLL SEGMENT FOR GUIDING CAST SLAB

PURPOSE: To provide a roll segment for guiding a cast slab which reduces the load applied to a vertical driving device of an upper frame as low as possible and can easily adjust the interval between the rolls to a tapered shape and also, constitute the interval between strands narrow. CONSTITUTION: A piston 7 formed cylindrically at the upper part of a tie rod 5 erected on a lower frame 1 and having a screw on the upper outer peripheral surface is mounted slidably in the vertical direction. An upper frame 17 is supported through spherical seats 12, 14, 20, 21 arranged at the lower outer periphery of this piston 7. A worm wheel 8 screwed with an upper screw of the piston 7 is provided and further, an fixed frame 23 is provided on the upper part of a tie rod 5 mounting the piston 7. The worm wheel 8 is held to the fixed frame 23 and a driving device 26 for driving the worm wheel 8 is also provided.
