Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic fluid improved in saturation magnetization by stably dispersing fine ferrite particles in low-vapor pressure base oil at a high concentration. CONSTITUTION: After adsorbing quaternary ammonium salt to fine ferrite powder by adding the quaternary ammonium salt to aqueous suspension of the fine ferrite powder, N-polyalkylenepolyamine-substituted alkenylsuccinimide is adsorbed to the fine ferrite powder by adding the solution in a hydrocarbon solvent or water-compatible organic solvent of the N-polyalkylenepolyamine- substituted alkenylsuccinimide to the aqueous suspension. Then the water and hydrocarbon or water-compatible organic solvent are removed. After distilling out water and solvent, a magnetic fluid is manufactured by dispersing the remaining fine ferrite particles which have adsorbed the N- polyalkylenepolyamide-substituted alkenylsuccinimide in low-vapor pressure base oil.
