IMAGE REPRODUCER

PURPOSE: To obtain an image reproducer in which normal reproduction can be started at switching point of an image being inputted previously by a user through a simple operation during a special reproducing operation, e.g. quick feed reproduction or rewinding. CONSTITUTION: When a user inputs a signal from a normal reproduction start signal input means 109 during a special reproducing operation using a special reproduction start input means 101, a reverse direction special reproduction start signal 118 is fed to a reproduction method control means 102 and reverse direction special reproduction is performed. During the reverse direction special reproduction, a circuit 106 operates a correlation value between frames of an image signal 112 and an output from an image signal delay circuit 105, i.e., a delayed image signal 113. Normal reproduction is started at a point in time when an image switching point decision circuit 107 receiving a correlated value decides switching of the image. Consequently, reproduction can be started at a point in time when the image is switched, e.g. at the end of a commercial message, through a simple operation by detecting the point in time when the image is switched.
