Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To make an appropriate cooling of the optical system if necessary in the image forming device by the use of a simple mechanism by driving a cooling fan when the value of impressed input voltage exceeds a specified threshold value. CONSTITUTION: When the copy start key is depressed to execute the image forming process, the same voltage to be impressed onto the illumination lamp 13 as the voltage V set in the power source 29 is inputted from the light source control device 28 to the control means 30. The control means 30 compares the preset threshold voltage value v with the input voltage. When V=v, the luminous energy of the illumination lamp 13 and also heat generation are large. The control means 30, therefore, drives the cooling fans 31, 32 and starts copy operation.
