HOOD LOCK DEVICE

PURPOSE: To obtain large lift force in the initial stage of rotation, and prevent deformation of a base by juxtaposing a main spring to energize a latch in the opening direction and a sub-spring to increase initial rotational force almost in the same direction. CONSTITUTION: A latch 20 and a claw lever 25 are rotatably installed on support shafts 11 and 12 protrusively arranged on a base 10. A main spring 33 is extended between a first arm part 22 of the latch 20 and a rib 14 of the base 10, and the latch 20 is energized to the opening side, and a sub-spring 34 is compressed and sandwiched between a second arm part 23 and the rib 14 in a lock condition. When a wire 32 is pulled, an engaging projecting part 26 of the claw lever 25 slips out of an engagement receiving part 24 of the latch 20. Since the main spring 33 and the sub-spring 34 cooperate with each other in the initial stage of rotation of the latch 20 and push up a striker 40 of a hood from a midway part only by spring force of the main spring 33, large lift force can be obtained in the initial stage of rotation without enlarging the main spring 33.
