DRUG FOR ANIMAL CONTAINING 3-OXYGERMYLPROPIONIC ACID COMPOUND AS MAIN INGREDIENT

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject drug containing a specific 3-oxygermylpropionic acid eight-membered polymer as a main ingredient, excellent in pharmacological activities and the preservability and safety in its pharmacological activities, and useful as an agent for preventing and treating the viral diseases of pets, etc., as an agent for ameliorating diseases caused by immunity, etc. CONSTITUTION:This drug contains, as a main ingredient, a 3-oxygermylpropionic acid eight-membered polymer having an experimental formula of C6H10Ge2O7, minimum constituting units of (O1/2)3GeCH2CH2COOH, and a three-dimensional structure of the formula (R is -CH2CH2COOH; (m) is a weight-average polymerization degree of 137+ or -84 converted from the weight-average mol.wt.. of a propagermanium propyl ester). The main ingredient of the medicine is obtained e.g. dissolving 3-trichlorogermylpropionic acid in ethyl alcohol, dropping water to the solution at a liquid temperature of 20 deg.C, leaving the mixture throughout a day, filtering the crystals, washing the crystals and subsequently drying the washed crystals.
